The story
Before the child came home, their forever family waited and hoped. They painted a room the colour of sunshine, folded a patchwork blanket on the bed and wondered what the child would love. Then came the day they met: a little shy at first, a small wave, a big smile. Coming home was new for everyone, with new smells, new stairs and a new bedtime, so they took it slowly and learned each other's favourite things: toast cut into triangles, the highest swing in the park, the song that makes everyone dance. The child's story began before they came home, and it is always welcome here; every question gets a gentle answer and a hug. Family is made of love, not of looking the same. Every year they celebrate Family Day with a picnic, a cake and a new patch sewn onto the blanket.
