The story
This book is a gift from the child's grandparents, and every page is something they love doing together. They love making jam biscuits at the big table, with flour on everyone's nose. They love the garden, where the sunflowers they planted together grow taller than anyone. They love singing the old songs on the swing seat and reading stories in the big armchair, especially the ones about when a grandparent was small, with muddy knees and giggles just like the child's. Best of all is their special walk up the windy hill to fly the old red kite a grandparent flew as a child. When it is time to go home, the child wonders how love can reach that far. The grandparents smile and hold the kite string: love is like this, it stretches as far as you go and always leads you back. It ends with a sleepy goodnight hug.
