The story
High atop a terracotta rooftop overlooking the sunlit domes of Renaissance Florence, a brave young test pilot straps into master Leonardo's latest invention: a bat-winged glider made of curved ash wood and linen canvas. Beside a mechanical clockwork falcon with ticking brass wings, the child catches a gentle thermal updraft, soaring gracefully over the river Arno, waving to gondoliers and market stalls below. When a crosswind tilts the left wing, the child pulls a silk balance cord, righting the craft and gliding safely down into a soft haystack beside Leonardo's workshop, laughing with pure exhilaration.
